The top tokens on our ERC20 tokens list for November 2026 are Chainlink (LINK, $8.20 billion market cap), Uniswap (UNI, $4.13 billion), Quant (QNT, $2.74 billion) and Shiba Inu (SHIB, $2.66 billion), based on CoinGecko and Etherscan data captured on 6 November 2026. The rest of the top 10 are Ethena, Pepe, Aave, Ondo, Sky and Morpho. Counted by value alone, the biggest ERC20 tokens are still stablecoins: USDT and USDC hold about $111 billion on Ethereum between them.
ERC20 tokens are the power hub of DeFi platforms, stablecoins, NFT marketplaces, real-world asset (RWA) products and blockchain applications. They are used for crowdfunding, staking, lending, collateral, governance and payments, which is why they are some of the most widely held assets in crypto.
Even though the crypto space is flooded with ERC20 tokens, only a small group holds real value and daily use. Etherscan's token tracker counts 2,342,478 ERC20 contracts but shows only 3,678 tokens with an OK or Neutral reputation, and most of the rest are inactive. That is why startups that want to create their own token study the leaders first.
This guide covers the top ERC20 tokens list for 2026: what each token does, its market cap and holder count, which older names have dropped off the list, and how to create an ERC20 token of your own. It is a reference list, not investment advice, and it does not recommend any token or presale.
Key Takeaways
- Chainlink leads the ERC20 project tokens: LINK ($8.20 billion) is followed by UNI ($4.13 billion), QNT ($2.74 billion) and SHIB ($2.66 billion), per CoinGecko on 6 November 2026.
- Two tokens changed in the top 10 since October: Pepe and Morpho moved in, while Worldcoin and Mantle slipped just outside.
- Stablecoins dominate by value: USDT on Ethereum ($68.1 billion) and USDC on Ethereum ($43.0 billion) are far larger than any project token, according to DefiLlama.
- ETH is not an ERC20 token: ether is Ethereum's native coin. Its ERC20 form is Wrapped Ether (WETH), worth about $4.7 billion on-chain.
- Holders tell a different story than market cap: SHIB has 1.7 million holder addresses on Etherscan, while Sky has about 17,000, even though Sky's market cap is more than half of SHIB's.
- Creating an ERC20 token is cheap on-chain: deploying a standard contract cost roughly $0.35 in gas on 6 November 2026; the real costs are development, audits and liquidity.
ERC20 Tokens List 2026: Top 10 ERC20 Tokens at a Glance
As ERC20 tokens keep powering the crypto market with their reliability and adaptability, users and founders want to know which ones actually lead. Our list ranks established project tokens whose main contract is on Ethereum, by circulating market cap from CoinGecko's Ethereum ecosystem data, with holder counts from Etherscan's ERC20 token tracker. Both were captured on 6 November 2026.
We excluded stablecoins and wrapped or staked assets (they get their own table below), tokenized funds and gold, plus exchange tokens such as Bitfinex's LEO ($8.58 billion), Cronos (CRO) and OKB, whose value depends on a single company. We also left out tokens whose issuer or purpose we could not verify.

The Largest ERC20 Tokens by Value: Stablecoins and Wrapped Assets
If you rank every ERC20 token by the value held on Ethereum, the list looks very different. Stablecoins and tokenized versions of BTC and ETH dwarf every project token. For multichain stablecoins, the figure below counts only the supply on Ethereum, from DefiLlama's Ethereum stablecoin dashboard; wrapped and staked assets use Etherscan's on-chain market cap.
| Rank | Token | Symbol | Type | Value on Ethereum (6 Nov 2026) | Etherscan Holders |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tether USD | USDT | Stablecoin | $68.07B | 15,554,560 |
| 2 | USD Coin | USDC | Stablecoin | $43.01B | 9,158,064 |
| 3 | Lido Staked Ether | stETH | Liquid staking | $21.81B | 633,317 |
| 4 | Wrapped Bitcoin | WBTC | Wrapped BTC | $8.82B | 198,381 |
| 5 | Wrapped Beacon ETH | wBETH | Liquid staking (Binance) | $8.23B | 7,439 |
| 6 | USDS | USDS | Stablecoin (Sky) | $6.45B | 17,848 |
| 7 | Wrapped eETH | weETH | Liquid restaking (ether.fi) | $4.88B | 28,434 |
| 8 | Wrapped Ether | WETH | Wrapped ETH | $4.71B | 3,330,127 |
| 9 | Dai | DAI | Stablecoin (Sky) | $4.13B | 711,370 |
| 10 | Coinbase Wrapped BTC | cbBTC | Wrapped BTC | $3.45B | 87,700 |
Wrapped stETH (wstETH, $10.48 billion) is left out because it wraps the same stETH already counted at rank 3. Ethena's USDe, which held the last place in earlier versions of this table, now sits outside it at $2.49 billion on Ethereum. Tether's total USDT supply across all chains is $177.5 billion, and more of it sits on Tron ($92.4 billion) than on Ethereum.
Tether USD (USDT)
USDT is the most widely held ERC20 token, with more than 15 million holder addresses on Ethereum. It is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Tether, and the Ethereum version is the main settlement asset for DeFi trading pairs, lending markets and exchange transfers.
- Token Symbol – USDT
- Supply on Ethereum – about 68.07 billion USDT
- Total Market Capitalization (all chains) – $177.51 billion
USD Coin (USDC)
USDC is a regulated US dollar stablecoin issued by Circle. Ethereum holds $43.0 billion of its $70.7 billion total supply on DefiLlama's count, which makes it the default stablecoin for institutional DeFi and tokenized treasury products. In the United States, payment stablecoins now operate under the GENIUS Act, signed into law in July 2025.
- Token Symbol – USDC
- Supply on Ethereum – about 43.01 billion USDC
- Total Market Capitalization (all chains) – $70.34 billion
Lido Staked Ether (stETH)
The stETH token is what users receive when they stake ETH through Lido, the largest liquid staking protocol. It earns staking rewards while staying usable as collateral across DeFi. Lido holds $21.81 billion in total value locked, according to DefiLlama's Lido page.
Lido's governance token, LDO, used to sit on this list on its own. Its market cap has since fallen to about $267 million, so it no longer makes the top 10, even though the protocol it governs is still the biggest in liquid staking.
- Token Symbol – stETH
- Market Circulation – about 9.71 million stETH
- Market Capitalization – $21.69 billion on CoinGecko
Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC)
Wrapped Bitcoin is an ERC20 token that represents Bitcoin inside the Ethereum ecosystem. Each WBTC is backed one to one by BTC held by a custodian, which lets Bitcoin holders swap, lend and trade in DeFi applications.
WBTC is no longer the only option, though. Its custody moved to a joint venture involving BitGo and BiT Global in 2024, and Coinbase launched its own cbBTC, which now has a $3.45 billion on-chain market cap on Ethereum. WBTC still leads, with about 116,000 tokens in circulation.
- Token Symbol – WBTC
- Market Circulation – about 116,100 WBTC
- Market Capitalization – $8.80 billion on CoinGecko
Top 10 ERC20 Tokens Explained
Here is what each token on the main ERC20 tokens list does, and why it holds its place in 2026.
1. Chainlink (LINK)
LINK is the native token of Chainlink, the oracle network that feeds off-chain data such as prices, reserves and interest rates into smart contracts. Node operators are paid in LINK, and LINK can be staked to secure the network. Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) also moves tokens and messages between blockchains, which is why banks and tokenization platforms use it.
LINK is the largest ERC20 project token by market cap and has more than 900,000 holder addresses on Ethereum.
- Token Symbol – LINK
- Market Circulation – 766.8 million LINK (of a 1 billion total supply)
- Market Capitalization – $8.20 billion

2. Uniswap (UNI)
UNI is the governance token of Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange by volume. Uniswap V3 and V4 together processed about $64 billion in trades across all their chains in the 30 days to 6 November 2026, according to DefiLlama's DEX volume rankings.
The token changed in a big way in December 2025, when Uniswap governance passed the "UNIfication" proposal. It switched on protocol fees that are used to burn UNI and burned 100 million UNI from the treasury, so UNI now has a direct link to trading activity.
- Token Symbol – UNI
- Market Circulation – 609.7 million UNI
- Market Capitalization – $4.13 billion
3. Quant (QNT)
QNT is the utility token of Quant Network, a London-based company whose Overledger platform connects blockchains to each other and to existing bank systems. Enterprises pay licence fees in QNT, which gives the token a business-to-business use case rather than a retail one.
QNT also has one of the smallest supplies on this list, with only about 14.6 million tokens in circulation.
- Token Symbol – QNT
- Market Circulation – 14.56 million QNT
- Market Capitalization – $2.74 billion
4. Shiba Inu (SHIB)
The Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme token is the best-known ERC20 memecoin. It launched as a competitor to Dogecoin and grew into an ecosystem that includes the ShibaSwap DEX and the Shibarium layer 2 network.
Unlike Bitcoin, SHIB is intentionally abundant, with a total supply of one quadrillion tokens. It also has the widest ownership of any project token on this list, at nearly 1.7 million holder addresses.
- Token Symbol – SHIB
- Market Circulation – 589.24 trillion SHIB
- Market Capitalization – $2.66 billion

5. Ethena (ENA)
ENA is the governance token of Ethena, the protocol behind the USDe synthetic dollar. USDe keeps its peg through a delta-neutral strategy of holding crypto collateral and shorting perpetual futures, a design DefiLlama classes as "basis trading". USDe supply stands at about $4.5 billion across all chains.
ENA holders vote on risk parameters and collateral, and the token can be staked within the Ethena ecosystem.
- Token Symbol – ENA
- Market Circulation – 13.50 billion ENA
- Market Capitalization – $2.18 billion
6. Pepe (PEPE)
PEPE is an ERC20 memecoin launched on Ethereum in 2023, built around the Pepe the Frog internet meme. It has no protocol or fee model behind it, so its market cap reflects trading and community interest alone. Its entire 420.69 trillion supply is in circulation.
PEPE moved into the top 10 this month: its market cap rose from about $1.63 billion in October while several larger project tokens fell. With about 600,000 holder addresses, it is the third most widely held project token here, behind SHIB and Chainlink.
- Token Symbol – PEPE
- Market Circulation – 420.69 trillion PEPE
- Market Capitalization – $2.01 billion
7. Aave (AAVE)
AAVE is the governance token of Aave, the largest decentralized lending protocol. Aave V3 holds $15.11 billion in total value locked, per DefiLlama's Aave V3 page. AAVE holders vote on new markets, collateral settings and fee changes, and staked AAVE acts as a backstop for the protocol.
In addition, AAVE holders can propose features and protocol settings through the Aave DAO.
- Token Symbol – AAVE
- Market Circulation – 15.44 million AAVE
- Market Capitalization – $1.99 billion
8. Ondo (ONDO)
ONDO is the governance token of the Ondo ecosystem, one of the two largest issuers of tokenized US Treasury products. Ondo and Franklin Templeton each hold about $3.1 billion in tokenized Treasury funds, according to RWA.xyz's Treasury dashboard on 6 November 2026.
ONDO is the best-known governance token tied to real-world asset tokenization, one of the fastest-growing areas of DeFi.
- Token Symbol – ONDO
- Market Circulation – 4.87 billion ONDO
- Market Capitalization – $1.78 billion
9. Sky (SKY), formerly Maker (MKR)
SKY is the governance token of Sky Protocol, the 2024 upgrade and rebrand of MakerDAO. It replaced MKR at a fixed rate of 1 MKR to 24,000 SKY, and exchanges such as Kraken converted MKR balances to SKY in September 2025. Sky issues the USDS stablecoin and still supports the older DAI.
So if you are looking for Maker on an ERC20 token list, SKY is where it lives now.
- Token Symbol – SKY
- Market Circulation – 23.42 billion SKY
- Market Capitalization – $1.50 billion
10. Morpho (MORPHO)
MORPHO is the governance token of Morpho, a lending network where anyone can create a separate market for one collateral and one loan asset. Morpho Blue holds about $10.98 billion in total value locked, per DefiLlama's Morpho Blue page, which makes it one of the largest lending protocols after Aave.
MORPHO has a small holder base for its size, at about 24,000 addresses on Etherscan.
- Token Symbol – MORPHO
- Market Circulation – 703.6 million MORPHO
- Market Capitalization – $1.46 billion
Just Outside the Top 10: Worldcoin and Mantle
Both tokens held a top 10 place in October and now sit a few places lower.
WLD is the token of World (formerly Worldcoin), a project that verifies people as unique humans through its World ID system. The token is issued as an ERC20 on Ethereum and also circulates on World Chain, its own layer 2 network. WLD has faced privacy reviews from regulators in several countries. Its market cap is $1.26 billion, with 3.74 billion WLD in circulation.
MNT is the governance and gas token of Mantle, an Ethereum layer 2 network. It started as an ERC20 token on Ethereum and is used to pay fees on the Mantle network after bridging. Its market cap is $1.44 billion, with 3.30 billion MNT in circulation.
These are the top ERC20 tokens leading the market in 2026. Each one has a distinct purpose, revenue model and holder base. If you also want to create an ERC20 token like these, keep reading.
Tokens That Dropped Off the ERC20 Token List
An older version of this list included several tokens that no longer belong on it. Here is what changed.
| Token | Old Claim | Status on 6 November 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Ethereum (ETH) | Listed as the most popular ERC20 token | ETH is Ethereum's native coin, not an ERC20 token. Its ERC20 form is WETH. |
| Rexas Finance (RXS) | $1.32 billion market cap | A presale token. It has no reported market cap in CoinGecko's top 500 Ethereum tokens, and the old figure could not be verified. |
| Mantra (OM) | $7.58 billion market cap | OM collapsed by about 90% in hours on 13 April 2025. The ERC20 OM was then retired in favour of a native MANTRA chain token. |
| Vantard (VTARD) | $109.9 million market cap | Not tracked by CoinGecko or Etherscan's verified list. Removed. |
| Toncoin (TON) | Listed as an ERC20 token | TON is native to The Open Network, not Ethereum. It was renamed Gram (GRAM) on 15 June 2026. |
| Maker (MKR) | $1.4 billion market cap | Replaced by SKY at 1 MKR to 24,000 SKY. |
| Decentraland (MANA) | $548 million market cap | Still an ERC20 token, but now worth about $138 million. |
| Lido DAO (LDO) | $1.23 billion market cap | Still an ERC20 token, now about $267 million. Lido's stETH is listed above instead. |
The lesson for founders and investors is simple: market caps quoted in presale coverage are not market caps. Many "best ERC20 presale" articles promote tokens that are not trading yet, so this list leaves presales out entirely. A presale token has no market price to check, and buyers can lose everything they put in. Always check a token on CoinGecko or Etherscan before you trust a number.
What Are ERC20 Tokens? The Standard Explained
ERC20 tokens are fungible tokens on Ethereum that follow one shared rulebook, so every unit of a token is interchangeable with any other unit. ERC20 is that standard, first published as EIP-20 in November 2015. Any token that follows it can work with every Ethereum wallet, exchange and DeFi app without custom integration. That is the real reason the standard took over.
An ERC20 contract must include six functions and two events:
- totalSupply returns the number of tokens in existence.
- balanceOf returns how many tokens an address holds.
- transfer moves tokens from the sender to another address.
- transferFrom lets an approved address move tokens on the owner's behalf.
- approve gives another address (such as a DEX) permission to spend tokens.
- allowance shows how much an approved address can still spend.
- Transfer and Approval events let wallets and block explorers track every movement.
The same standard runs on every EVM network, so ERC20 tokens can also be deployed on Arbitrum, Base, Polygon and BNB Chain, where the equivalent is called BEP20. For other token types, see our guide to the different types of crypto tokens.
Market Cap vs Holders: What the ERC20 Data Really Shows
Most ERC20 lists stop at market cap. Holder counts from Etherscan add a second view, because they show how widely a token is actually owned.
| Token | Market Cap | Holders | Market Cap per Holder |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shiba Inu (SHIB) | $2.66B | 1,696,683 | about $1,570 |
| Pepe (PEPE) | $2.01B | 600,481 | about $3,350 |
| Ondo (ONDO) | $1.78B | 220,272 | about $8,100 |
| Chainlink (LINK) | $8.20B | 915,798 | about $8,950 |
| Uniswap (UNI) | $4.13B | 402,760 | about $10,260 |
| Aave (AAVE) | $1.99B | 184,446 | about $10,760 |
| Morpho (MORPHO) | $1.46B | 24,116 | about $60,700 |
| Sky (SKY) | $1.50B | 17,079 | about $87,600 |
| Bitfinex LEO (LEO) | $8.58B | 3,639 | about $2.36 million |
The maths is simple: market cap divided by holder addresses. It is only a rough guide, since one exchange wallet can hold tokens for thousands of users. Still, the spread is striking. SHIB and PEPE are owned by a large retail crowd, while LEO and SKY sit in far fewer addresses.
For a founder, the takeaway is practical. A token with a wide holder base is harder to manipulate and easier to list. So plan distribution (airdrops, liquidity rewards, community allocations) as carefully as you plan the smart contract.
How to Check an ERC20 Token Before You Trust or List It
Fake copies of popular ERC20 tokens are common, and the old version of this list shows how easily inflated numbers spread. Run these five checks first:
- Match the contract address. Copy it from the project's official site and compare it with CoinGecko and Etherscan. The symbol alone means nothing, since anyone can deploy a token called "USDT".
- Check the source code is verified on Etherscan, and look for a public audit report.
- Look at holder concentration. If a handful of wallets hold most of the supply, the price can be moved by a single seller.
- Read the admin functions. Mint, pause, blacklist and upgrade rights are normal for stablecoins, but a risk in a community token.
- Review your token approvals. Revoke unlimited allowances you no longer need, since approvals are a common route for wallet drains.
How To Create An ERC20 Token?
Creating an ERC20 token is technically simple and cheap on-chain. On 6 November 2026, Etherscan's gas tracker showed Ethereum gas at about 0.13 gwei, with ETH at $2,232. At that price, deploying a standard token contract that uses around 1.2 million gas costs roughly $0.35, and a token transfer of about 65,000 gas costs about 2 cents.
The real budget goes into tokenomics, development, testing, a smart contract audit, legal review and liquidity. Pixel Web Solutions' token development starts from $3,500 for a standard utility token, and our guide to the cost to create an ERC20 token breaks down every line item.
ERC20 tokens can be created either by hiring a token developer or by choosing a crypto token development company.
Hire A Crypto Token Developer
Many blockchain developers offer crypto token creation services for startups. These freelancers often have the expertise and practical knowledge to create crypto tokens. However, the challenge is that you cannot easily verify the quality, reliability and security of their work.
A freelance token developer may or may not have enough experience with audits, upgradeable contracts and exchange requirements. It may be an affordable option, but it comes with risks. So, for anything that will hold real value, a crypto token development company is the safer partner.
Work With A Development Team
A crypto token development company brings developers, testers and auditors together to complete the token creation process without gaps. It also offers guidance on tokenomics and compliance, plus ongoing maintenance and updates after launch.
The token can be customized around your marketing strategy and business requirements, with features such as vesting, staking, burn and governance. If you are a startup new to the crypto sector, approaching a crypto token development company is the ideal option.
In that way, Pixel Web Solutions has a track record of creating ERC20 tokens securely around each client's business requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What Programming Language Is Used To Create ERC20 Tokens?
ERC20 tokens are usually written in Solidity, Ethereum's main smart contract language. Vyper is a less common alternative. The token's features, behaviour and security rules are all written as smart contract code.
2. What Tools Are Used To Create An ERC20 Token?
Common tools include Remix IDE for quick development, Hardhat or Foundry for testing and deployment, MetaMask for interacting with the network, and Etherscan to verify the contract and track transactions. Truffle, which older guides recommend, was sunset by Consensys in 2023.
3. What Are the Top 10 ERC20 Tokens in 2026?
By market cap on 6 November 2026, the top 10 ERC20 project tokens are Chainlink (LINK), Uniswap (UNI), Quant (QNT), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Ethena (ENA), Pepe (PEPE), Aave (AAVE), Ondo (ONDO), Sky (SKY) and Morpho (MORPHO). If you include stablecoins, USDT and USDC are the largest ERC20 tokens overall.
4. What Are the Best ERC20 Tokens?
No list can name a "best" token for everyone, and this one does not try. Our table ranks tokens by market cap, which measures size and not quality or future returns. Use the category and holder columns to understand what a token does, and do your own research before you hold any of them.
5. Are ERC20 Coins and ERC20 Tokens the Same Thing?
Yes. "ERC20 coins" is a common way to say ERC20 tokens. Strictly speaking, a coin is native to its own blockchain, as ETH is to Ethereum, while a token is issued by a smart contract on top of a blockchain. Every ERC20 asset is therefore a token.
6. Is ETH an ERC20 Token?
No. ETH is the native coin of Ethereum and existed before the ERC20 standard. To use ETH inside apps that expect an ERC20 token, it is wrapped into WETH at a one to one rate.
7. Is USDT an ERC20 Token?
USDT exists as an ERC20 token on Ethereum, but it is also issued on other networks such as Tron (TRC20), BNB Chain and Solana. Always choose the same network on both the sending and receiving side, or the funds can be lost.
8. Which Wallet Is Best for ERC20 Tokens?
Any Ethereum-compatible wallet supports ERC20 tokens, including MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet and hardware wallets such as Ledger and Trezor. See our comparison of the best crypto wallets for the trade-offs.
9. Where Can I Find a List of New ERC20 Tokens?
Etherscan's token tracker and CoinGecko's Ethereum ecosystem page are the most reliable places to look, and CoinGecko also lists recently added coins. Treat brand-new tokens with care, since many have thin liquidity and unverified teams. Run the five checks above on any token you find.
10. How Many ERC20 Tokens Are There?
Etherscan's token tracker counts about 2.34 million ERC20 contracts, but it shows only 3,678 tokens with an OK or Neutral reputation. CoinGecko's research found that 53.2% of tokens tracked since 2021 have stopped trading.
The ERC20 tokens list changes every month, so bookmark this page and check the live data before you act on any figure. And if you are ready to build a token of your own, Pixel Web Solutions can take it from idea to mainnet.
